Valentine's 2/16/2011

Bryan and I have been married long enough that we don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day on February 14th.  We celebrate in other ways throughout the year.  Can you really show all your love to one person in one day?  (Good thing we don’t celebrate because I was having a bad Valentine’s Day and not in the mood to be all happy, touchy, feely, mushy, etc...)  So, we went to dinner as a family on Sunday night.  (Family time because we have not found a babysitter yet.  Kate has offered, but how do I know she’s not an axe murder?  And, yes, she would appreciate that comment because we’ve talked about it.)
Thomas and Bryan took me to L’Ouest (The West).  It’s a Paul Bocuse restaurant.  Thomas was a perfect gentleman and thank goodness Bryan did pretty well himself.  We arrived at 7:30pm and that was early.  The place was huge and almost empty.  Bryan reminded me that 7:30 is an unheard of time to eat here.  Most people wait till 9:00pm or later.  (Not me…I’d kill someone if I had to wait that long.)
I lost count of all the different waiters we had.  There was one who brought the menus.  One who took our orders.  The one who brought Thomas’ coke was different from the wine waiter.  Then I think someone from the kitchen actually brought our food.  And, at the end of the meal, someone else rang up our bill.   Oh, I almost forgot about the girl who was always close by to refill our glasses if they got close to being empty.  No wonder this place is so expensive.

We did hit it off with the wine waiter.  He was just looked so happy.  He heard us talking as he walked up to the table and immediately wanted to know where we were from.  We learned that in June he is moving to Florida for one year.  He’s going to work for Paul Bocuse’s son at Walt Disney World.  So if you’re planning a trip to Disney, we highly recommend the “Chefs de France”inside the French Pavilion at Epcot.  Look for this guy.  ^  He brought this crank instrument over to us to play the French version of Happy Birthday for Thomas.  What a great guy.  Thomas loved it.

Kitchen
There was a quote written in the kitchen.  It said “Le Bonheur est dans le cuisine.”  (Happiness is in the kitchen.)  Not at my house.  That’s where you can usually hear a lot of pots being slammed around and sometimes a smoke detector going off.
To end a perfect night Thomas’ says “That was a great dinner guys.”  I love my Valentine’s!

Wish I could remember what I was eating.
