It was cold today! Around 32 degrees when Thomas and I walked to the bus stop this morning. Of all days for there to be only 1 bus running. We had to wait out there for almost 20 minutes. I guess this is the first time I’ve really wished I had a car.
By the time Thomas got out of school it was snowing. That didn’t last long though. Just long enough for us to get into our nice warm house, then it quit. It is supposed to snow more tonight.
We went to the butcher today (our 2nd attempt). I made Bryan join us in the adventure. I’m glad he was there because of course the butcher would have questions. I got exactly what I wanted, chicken breasts & hamburger meat. (I’m still really happy that I did not have to grab any of my body parts to explain what I wanted.) We didn’t buy anything exciting, but it was something I knew how to cook. It was not quite as bad as I had imagined it would be. There were no heads or organs lying around. (At least I don’t think there were.) I could not read any of the signs in the display case. I did get to watch the butcher grind up my hamburger. I’m glad to have this experience under my belt. Now, I won’t hesitate to visit once or twice a week. No more frozen meats for the French Dodge family.
Another good thing happened today. I figured out how to buy laundry detergent. Over the past couple of days, I’ve bought 2 huge bottles of fabric softener thinking I was getting detergent. Never judge a bottle by its shape and picture. (I really thought it looked like Wisk or Cheer.) I should have enough fabric softener to last the entire time we live here.
