School Day 1/3

First day of school for Thomas.  He seemed excited about it until we got there, then he did want us to leave.  He said he didn’t want to be alone at school.  His regular teacher was out today, so he had a substitute.  Hopefully, the normal teacher will be there tomorrow.  She had to take him from Bryan so we could get out the door.  We waited outside his room for a few minutes and then peeked in on him.  He was not crying, but he was not happy.  She was trying to work a puzzle with him.   When I picked him up at 11:30, he said he had a good day and liked his school.  Of course later on when Bryan asked him about his day, he said the exact opposite.  Hopefully, the drop off tomorrow will be less traumatic.
I found a library about a block away from the school.  That’s where I spent my day.  The hotel is about a 30 minute walk/ride from the school.  I could make it back, but I’m just not comfortable being that far away from Thomas yet.
We were finally able to make it to Darty before they closed.  We ordered our washer/dryer & refrigerator.  It should be delivered on Wednesday.  YEAH!  While there, I noticed a woman kept looking at me while Bryan and I were talking about the appliances.  Finally, she asked where we were from in the U.S.   She is from Pittsburg.  She just arrived in Lyon on the 2nd of January.  She moved here with her boyfriend who is French.  She gave me her e-mail, so I hope to be able to meet up with her sometime later.  (Kate & Tom).
Took Thomas to the park outside the hotel this afternoon.  He was excited when a few other children showed up so he would have someone to play with.  But those kids were horrible.  There was 1 that was maybe a year older than Thomas.  He kept wanting to hit Thomas with a stick and every time Thomas would pick up a stick, the boy would reach over and break it.  I had to tell the little boy “NO” several times.  His mom/babysitter was too busy talking and had no clue what was going on.  Another little boy about Thomas’ age just kept running up to Thomas and yelling in his face.  It was not a pleasant experience.
